The debate between power optimists and power pessimists whether the Bloom box is the ultimate answer to energy shortage or if it is just another big time hoax continues to make news in the energy circle.
What the heck is a bloom box anyway?
Bloom box is electricity in a box, an idea concieved by K.R. Sridhar, a former NASA engineer. The bloom box generates power wirelessly through a combination of oxygen and a fossil fuel such as bio-gas. It is supposed to be more fuel efficient than the photovoltaic cells because unfortunately, sunlight is not availiable 24/7.
CEO of Ebay, John Donohue says the Bloom box has already saved his company over $ 100,000 a year in electricity costs. While it is okay for members of the elite C -suite to praise the power box, will it ever reach the average American or Indian household? And, if so, how long is the wait? Some say it will take at least another decade, while many others think it will simply fade into oblivion of bright ideas that never took off.
But according to Sridhar, each of the small Bloom Boxes should be able to power one American household or four Indian homes which he hopes to begin selling within five to ten years.
While it does sound very promising, it is one long wait for the innovation hungry power consumers!

Thanks for stopping by.
Innovation is not just about pricing but it is about attitude, I often wonder why no Indian company wants to boost this product where as companies like GE are grabbing such opportunities!
